After last weeks disappointing efforts, we were treated to two volleys and two megs!! WAHEY!
First the volleys. As you can see from the above picture Dave ‘Right foot better than left’ Kitson scored a tidy volley for Stoke City against Sunderland winning the game 2-0 for the Potters. This was only Kitson’s second ever goal for Stoke, the first coming mid-week in the Carling Cup. Stoke have also recently acquired the services of Volley expert Tuncay from Middlesbrough, so it appears that Tony Pulis is assembling a small army of volleyers at the Britannia Stadium which means that could ones to watch this season.
The second volley of the weekend came at the Molineux in the game between Wolves and Hull making it a true glamour tie. Richard Stearman steered the ball home from a cross to give Wolverhampton a 2-1 victory.
That’s it for the volleys now to the megs, both coming in big games involving three of the big four. Liverpool’s Glen Johnson was the first to achieve a megs against Bolton. Johnson who had already scored earlier in the match sealed the victory whilst the game was tied at 2-2 to give Liverpool a 4-2 win.
The second megs came at Old Trafford in the weekends big match between Man United and Arsenal. Arsenal who were trailing the game 2-1 snatched victory when Abou Diaby megged Patrice Evra late in the game to achieve a 2-3 win for the Gunners.
The other weekends action saw Tottenham, Chelsea and Man City continue their winning streaks, with comfortable victories over Birmingham, Burnley and Portsmouth respectively. Aston Villa also picked up another victory beating Fulham by Two goals to nil at Villa Park. Everton picked up their first three points of the season against Wigan winning 2-1, with Leighton Baines scoring a last minute penalty. The game between West Ham and Blackburn finished 0-0. That is all.
Tables to updated later. Keep Volleying.
